The most festive month of the year is coming

You can take a bus ride with a payment card
Starting 29 November 2023, passengers can use payment cards to pay for rides on city and intercity bus lines.

Two electric trains now running in Ljubljana
The Urban tourist train, which has been running through the city centre for five and a half years already, has been joined by the second train so that they can stop at each station every 45 minutes.

Inspiring young natural scientists
The Slovenian team of young natural scientists, which included students from Šmartno pod Šmarno goro Primary School and Oskar Kovačič Primary School, achieved excellent results at the 20th International Junior Science Olympiad in Bangkok.

Ice skating in Pogačar Square
We will be skating and socializing in Pogačar Square this winter as well. The first skaters will step onto the Ice Fairy Tale rink on Monday, 15 January 2024, and the rink will be open until the end of February.

In memoriam: Jurij Souček
Jurij Souček, an Honorary Citizen of Ljubljana, a great theatre artist and one of the most recognizable voices of cartoons and fairy tales that generations of children grew up with, passed away. We will say goodbye to Jurij Souček at the commemoration session of the City Council of the City of Ljubljana, which will be held on Monday, 22 January 2024, at 13:00 in the Great Hall of the City Hall.

Another successful year at the Ljubljana Castle
In 2023, Ljubljana Castle had just under 1,200,000 visitors, the railway funicular transported slightly over 540,000 passengers, 331 events and 432 wedding ceremonies took place on the castle premises throughout the year, the occupancy of the Celica Hostel was at 92 percent during the main summer months.

In memoriam: Acad. Prof. Dr. Stanko Kristl
The Honorary Citizen Prof. Dr. Stanko Kristl, one of the most prominent Slovenian architects, researcher, innovator and humanist, designed, among other things, the diagnostic-therapeutic service facility of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana and the Mladi rod kindergarten in Ljubljana, passed away.
