Apple of quality 2016
The Livada Primary School and the Ljubljana City Library have received the national recognition Apple of Quality 2016 with which the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes awards the best implemented projects in European educational and training programmes.

Ljubljana, youth-friendly municipality
The City of Ljubljana received the Youth-Friendly Municipality Certificate awarded to municipalities by the Institute for Youth Policy and the Association of Municipalities and Towns of Slovenia.

At the competition for the Most Bee-Friendly Municipality 2016 the City of Ljubljana was placed third.

The award for mayor Zoran Janković
On 28th November 2016, Mayor Zoran Janković was awarded a prize at the Gala Academy of the Braća Karić Foundation in Belgrade in the field of economy and development of the city.

Ljubljana, environmentally friendly municipality
Municipality of Ljubljana has been awarded the title of Planet Earth-Friendly Municipality for the fifth consecutive year.

Golden pencil
The Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia presented the projects Rakova Jelša City Park and the Renovation of Slovenska Street with the Golden Pencil Award for their excellent execution. Deputy Major Prof Janez Koželj was also recognised.

At the My Country – Beautiful and Hospitable 2016 event, Ljubljana received two awards: first place in the larger cities category and first place in the city centre category.

City of Ljubljana awarded at the Festival for the elderly
At this year’s Third Age Festival the City of Ljubljana and Mayor Zoran Janković received a recognition for the longstanding cooperation in organising the festival.

Ljubljana among most sustainable destinations
At the Global Green Destinations Day international conference Ljubljana was, for the second time already, ranked among 100 most sustainable destinations in the world (Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations 2016). The Ljubljana Tourism project titled Tastes of Ljubljana also received an award.

The website of Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, received the award Websi 2016 in the category of public and nongovernmental organisations.

Golden apple for Ljubljana
In the year when it holds the title European Green Capital Ljubljana also won the Golden Apple Award (La Pomme d'Or), the highest recognition of the World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET).

European award for silver economy initiatives
On the basis of its many years of experience and good practises with regard to activities for the elderly, the City of Ljubljana was invited to serve as an evaluator in a project with the aim of setting up the European award for Silver Economy Initiatives.

The Zelena Ljubljana (Green Ljubljana) and Primavoda websites received the Golden Awards at the digital communications conference DIGGIT.

The Golden Tourist Heart
Sacen International has awarded Ljubljana Tourism with the second Golden Tourist Heart of the Mediterranean and South-East Europe.

European Commission awarded Ljubljana an important environmental prize, which only confirms the right direction into development of sustainable tourism.

The Green Heart interactive installation which was set up in front of the City Hall at the beginning of the green year received the Grand Prize at the 25th Slovenian Advertising Festival in the »Direct Communication« category.

At the traditional meeting of municipalities and mayors of Slovenia, the City of Ljubljana received the Golden Rock 2016 award for the most propulsive municipality in Slovenia in terms of development.

On 9 February in Brussels, Ljubljana officially received the title European Green Capital 2016.

The website www.zelenaljubljana.si, that is, www.greenljubljana.com has received the professional award Special Kudos within the scope of the international awards platform CSS Design Awards.

Ljubljana on the list of top destinations in 2016
Globally known media companies The Rough Guide and The Guardian have put Ljubljana on their lists of destinations in 2016. They agree that the number of green areas, pedestrian zones and other environmental measures justify Ljubljana’s title European Green Capital.
