The most festive month of the year is here. December events have started on Friday, 29 November, with the turning-on of the festive lights and the opening of the holiday fair. A varied programme in the beautifully decorated old city centre is going to bring joy to us all the way to 5 January 2020.

Tree of 2019
On 28 November, a day marking the efforts of people who are taking care of trees in cities, we are presenting the tree of 2019 in Ljubljana. People who took part in a web survey have chosen the sycamore tree on the corner of Streliška Street and Strossmayer Street.

Support of Novi Sad for the ECC 2025 candidacy
On Saturday, 23 November 2019, Mayor Zoran Janković met with Mayor Miloš Vučković in his home city Novi Sad and they signed an agreement on the support for Ljubljana’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2025.

GDi Ljubljana represented software application that was designed for Applause project on ESRI Developer Summit in Berlin.

Adopted Cultural Cooperation Agreement with the City of Chemnitz
On 11 November 2019, Mayor Zoran Janković signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of culture with the City of Chemnitz. With it both cities expressed their support of the candidacy for the title European Capital of Culture 2025.

Ljubljana among the Best Food Destinations in the World
Ljubljana received a high commendation award for its Green Supply Chains project in the category Best Food Destination at International Tourism and Travel Awards at World Travel Market in London.

Sharing good cycling practices in Ljubljana
Ljubljana as a cycling city is encouraging everyday urban cycling with different measures. We are also sharing good practices in this area internationally. Deputy Mayor Tjaša Ficko attended the annual cycling conference Cycling Scotland 2019 in Edinburg and we also participated in the CIVITAS Forum in Graz.

Renovated Music and Ballet Conservatory
In the centre of Ljubljana we have opened renovated premises of the Music and Ballet Conservatory. The reasons for the renovation, which took 14 months, were an old roof and a need for a modern concert hall with top acoustics.

Opening of the expanded cemetery Polje
At the end of October 2019, we have opened the expanded cemetery Polje. Within the scope of the expansion we built a new farewell building, a platform and a park. With new surfaces for classic and in-ground urn burials, columbarium and ash-scattering area we provided 1560 new burial plots.
