Welcome to Ljubljana!

The world conference of the League of Historic Cities will be held in Ljubljana from November 12 to 14, 2024, the main topic of which will be the creation of a vibrant city center with sustainable urban mobility.
The conference will present case studies, policies, practices and knowledge sharing for the development of sustainable historic and human-centred cities.

Within the central theme, we will focus on the following three sub-themes:

• The future as a factor in the quality and attractiveness of historic urban areas
• Sustainable mobility as a safeguard against the deterioration of cultural heritage
• Challenges and ways of implementing sustainable mobility in historic cities

A youth program will also be part of the conference, as part of which we will hold a painting competition in Ljubljana about the architect Jože Plečnik, whose selected works are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
